General description of the collection: The James B. McWilliams photograph collection consists of photos dealing with the activities of the Office of War Information in the European Theater of Operations with headquarters in London, England. The various branches of the organization and their particular activities are pictured, i.e. publications, radio, leaflets, news, films, pictures, exhibits, British division, and the Paris office. There are also a few photos dated in November 1945 of a press conference at Garmish, Germany. This rather little known facet of the Allied war effort is a great source for visual information on the inner workings of the Office of War information.
